The ViaRhôna is a cycle path that links Lake Leman with the Mediterranean Sea. This wonderful trail passes for 100km along the banks of the River Rhône in Southern Bugey and can be cycled, walked or rollerbladed and is suitable for all ages.
The ViaRhôna is a cycle track that follows the course of the River Rhône from Lake Leman near Geneva to the Mediterranean Coast near Marseille. This cycle track runs through Bugey for approximately 100km from the town of Seyssel passing the Lavours Marsh and continuing through the towns of Belley and Murs-et-Génignieux as far as the village of Saint-Sorlin-en-Bugey before continuing its journey southward. For the most of the time the ViaRhôna consists of specially constructed cycle paths on the banks of the River Rhône but it also makes use of some narrow country roads that are almost traffic free. In this tranquil rural environment you will be able to discover the extraordinary richness of the countryside and the diverse landscapes and flora and fauna along this stretch of the River Rhône. The ViaRhôna is suitable for all ages and levels of cycling ability and can also be enjoyed walking or on rollerblades. It is possible to do the whole 100km of the route that passes through Bugey stopping of in hotels and guest houses on the way or it can be enjoyed as a fun day out. On your own, as a family or with friends discover at your own pace the beauty of the mountains and the river along the ViaRhôna.
