Charles Machet retrospective exhibition (1902, Izieu - 1980, Limonest)
Creator of the Val d'Enfer and Nantua commemorative monuments, Charles Machet is known for his numerous sculptures in bronze, stone, clay and wood. His major works, inspired portraits, expressive animals, sports scenes, or religious and symbolic themes, will be at the heart of the exhibition.
Numerous archive documents (photographs and films in particular), made available by the artist's descendants, will help us understand the genesis of his creations. His drawings, oils and pastels, most of which are being shown to the public for the first time, will provide an intimate and autobiographical approach to this complete artist.
An exhibition of photographs of Charles Machet's works spread over the Ain region will also take place in the museum garden, echoing the exhibition presented at the Museum of Resistance and Deportation in Nantua.
