High up on a rock,at the foot hills of the Jura sits the magnificent Chateau of Montveran.
Berold of Saxony defeated the Saracens from the Rock of Montveran in 1000.

Following the Revolution ( 1789) some of the towers were destroyed.
At a later date Montveran was restored and an “ échauguette “ on the south east facade was built where a tall square tower stood previously.
Many illustrious visitors came to Montveran.
